Changelog
0.9.7 — September 15, 2026
Settings has a search box now — type what you want and jump straight to the row, wherever it is buried. Your drawer folders appear inline in the A-Z app list, with a switch to lift them to the top or sort them in. First run gets a proper welcome tour, so a freshly installed Tailwind is reachable instead of invisible. And the recent apps widget draws its icons with the rest of the home screen on a cold start, rather than a second later.
Also in this release
- Settings search matches the words you would use, not only the words on screen — rows carry keyword aliases, and the row it takes you to is highlighted when you land on it.
- The drawer’s Folders tab is gone: folders now live in the app list itself, and apps inside a folder no longer appear twice. Settings → Drawer → “Show folders in” and “Folders at the top” control where they sit.
- Fixed recent apps widgets updating from the wrong thread, and a stale icon that could survive a widget being recycled.
- The launcher’s own copy no longer describes itself in terms of AOSP Launcher3.
0.9.6 — September 2, 2026
The app drawer now pages sideways: swipe left from drawer home to reach the full A-Z app list, swipe right to come back, with the search box staying put throughout. The same gesture also pages between A-Z’s own tabs (Personal, Work, Folders). Both lists remember their scroll position across the round trip.
0.9.5 — August 30, 2026
Rename any pinned home screen or hotseat app icon from its long-press menu — set a nickname, reset to the app’s real name any time. Home screen icons and widgets can now snap to half-cell offsets too, from Settings → Home screen → Grid shape, for placement that isn’t locked to whole grid cells.
Also in this release
- The drawer’s search box now answers relative-date questions like “3 months from now” or “10 days ago”, alongside its existing math and unit-conversion answers.
- Dragging one folder onto another merges them at the icon you dropped onto, not wherever the drag was first detected.
- The light-theme drawer panel matches dark mode’s opacity.
0.9.4 — August 29, 2026
Tailwind now runs on Android 12. The minimum version drops from Android 13, and the handful of features that need a newer platform degrade there rather than breaking — icons stay adaptive but not themeable, back gestures work without their animation, and the frosted glass drawer falls back to a solid sheet where the device cannot blur.
Also in this release
- Fixed the search widget crash-looping the launcher on an Android 12 device with no on-device search engine. It died on attach and relaunched straight into the same crash.
- Themed (monochrome) icons need Android 13. On Android 12 app icons render without a monochrome layer — still adaptive, just not themeable.
- Predictive back gestures work on Android 12, without the newer platform’s animation.
- The frosted glass drawer needs compositor blur, which Android 12 makes an optional per-device capability; where it is missing the drawer uses its solid fallback.
- Enterprise and work-profile strings fall back to the built-in launcher wording on Android 12 rather than the device policy manager’s.
- The app-automation glow and splash-screen styling on launched activities both need Android 13 APIs and are skipped on Android 12.
0.9.3 — August 28, 2026
The app drawer has a Folders tab. It lists every folder you have — tap to open one, long-press for its menu, drag one out to the home screen — and Remove now offers to archive a folder instead of deleting it.
Drawer search finds folders too, ranked alongside the matching apps.
The Folders tab has a New folder button: pick two or more apps and it makes a folder named after what they have in common.
Also in this release
- Settings → Drawer → App list opens first on chooses which tab the app list lands on. The chooser omits Work on a device with no work profile.
- The drawer’s tab strip is restyled as shelf-sized pills, with the Folders tab beside Personal and Work.
- A folder created from the Folders tab is archived: it lives in the drawer rather than on a home screen page, and can be dragged out later like any other folder.
- Tapping or long-pressing a folder in search results puts the keyboard away first, so the folder is not laid out against the space the keyboard leaves.
- Folder tiles in the drawer are sized and aligned to match the app icons beside them, and their labels use the drawer’s own text color rather than the workspace’s.
- Dragging a folder out of the Folders tab moves it to the home screen rather than copying it, and archiving offers an Undo that returns it to the exact cell it came from.
- A Reddit community link in Settings → About.
0.9.2 — August 23, 2026
Opening the drawer now frosts the wallpaper and the home screen behind it. Settings → Drawer → Frosted glass drawer, on by default, and it falls back cleanly where the effect is unavailable.
Tailwind now runs on Android 13 and 14. It crashed on Android 13 and could not start at all on Android 14.
The drawer shelf and the Recent apps widget fill their empty slots with placeholders instead of leaving blank space.
Also in this release
- The frosted glass effect covers the drawer sheet, the workspace beneath it and the page indicator, and is limited to phones and the main home screen.
- Hidden work-profile pages no longer take drag targets on the home screen.
- Drawer search results stop flickering as you type: a section keeps its rows while its next pass is in flight, and a row no longer reloads an icon it already shows.
- The home settings screens use the right colors in dark mode.
0.9.1 — August 22, 2026
Tailwind now appears in your app drawer after you install it, with a one-tap button to make it your default home app. Android never offers to switch on its own, so a fresh install used to leave you with no way in.
Drawer search sources now sit directly on the Drawer settings screen.
Fixes: the drawer background and the calendar and contact action buttons use the right colors, and the Recent apps widget shows placeholders instead of blank space as it loads.
Also in this release
- The drawer sheet follows the Material You surface color, so it sits below the cards it carries instead of above them.
- Recent apps widgets publish their contents without waiting on a device-wide package scan first.
- The permission rows on the Contacts and Calendar search screens name the permission they show.
0.9.0 — August 20, 2026
First public beta of Tailwind Launcher.
A clean, fast home screen on Android 17’s AOSP launcher, with the settings it should have shipped with: grid and icon sizing, circular paging, a hideable dock and labels, reorderable pages, and folder sorting.
The drawer searches apps, contacts, calendar and the web from one box, and opens ready to type. Type “yt otters” to send a search straight to YouTube, Maps, Amazon or Gemini.
Multi-finger gestures. Configuration export and import.
Also in this release
- A drawer shelf of new, recent and most-used apps.
- Work-profile pages can be hidden from the home screen.
- Recent apps widgets, scopable to a single page.
- Material 3 Expressive drawer and Material 3 settings.
- Opt-in crash and stability reporting; telemetry is off until you consent.
